Have a look and see if you can spot your friends and family or even yourself! If you have any video that has an Eynsham Scouting connection, please let us know by email.

The Beavers met on Mondays and learnt how to feed the birds and made bird feeders, learnt how to make 999 calls, did first aid to help with nose bleeds and burns. Their new Leader Sue 'Willow' Greenwood started keeping the scrapbooks you can see in the slideshows.

Eynsham Beavers raised 13.19 for the Wildlife Hospital Trust for the EWRA Disaster Fund and received a Thank you certificate and also raised 20 for St Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital. The Beavers went on a Cycle Rally and the scrap book has many pictures including Allan Walker, Luke McCall, Phillip Joans, Thomas Maton, Lewis Hooper, Matthew Walker, Peter Greenwood, Nathan Munro and Ross Thomson. They held a summer fun day based on the popular TV series 'The Crystal Maze' and visited the Beech Court Nursing Home in Newlands Street where they met the elderly residents and gave them the flowers they had grown for the Carnival Flower Festival. They spent a day at the Cub Camp, raised 125 at a car boot sale and paraded in Eynsham with the group on Remembrance Sunday.

In a report in the Oxford Journal, Sue Greenwood was appealing for adult helpers as the Beavers and Cubs had too may boys and wanted to start new units. There were 32 Beavers aged 6-8, 20 Cubs 8-10, 28 Scouts 10-15, and a number of Venture Scouts. A new Beaver Colony had been set up and they were trying to start a new Cub Pack. Any volunteers were asked to contact Chairman Ron Robinson.

In 1995, Eynsham Beavers visited HMS Beaver and used this as the theme for their Carnival Float and came 2nd. They also went back to 1945 for a V.E. Day party outside the scout hall and formed the 'Guard of Honour' at Beech and Scots Wedding. They adopted a Dolphin called Jigsaw for one year with the Whale and Dolphin Society, donated 20 to the RNLI and raised 61.55 at a Jumble Sale. They went to the Oxford Gang Show, visited Eynsham Cub Camp, Hardwick Park and went for a walk on Halloween dressed as skeletons.

The Beaver Leaders sent a Newsletter to all parents in Spring 1996. Its reproduced in the slide show but includes plans to celebrate Beaver Scoutings 10th Birthday, news of the official launch of the Falcon Cub Pack which had been introduced to meet the demand for cub places in Eynsham and reduce the waiting list. They were given a challenge to take their Beaver Birthday Banner to as many places as possible and the Scrapbook shows photos of it near and far.... in Bristol and Wales with Mathew Marks, with Sam Hollinghead in Spain, at a Judo Competition with Jeorge Bibby, at Butlins Starcoast with Liam Glenn and a Redcoat, in Menorca with Shamus Hicks, at Devon Cliffs Supermarket, with Mr & Mrs Robinson in the Maldives. The Beavers went to a fun day at Henry Box School, to the Oxford Gang Show, and paraded at the West Oxon St Georges Day and Eynsham Remembrance Sunday. They won 1st prize in the Carnival for their Loch Ness float and had a Highland Games night which included a Tug-o-War, Pillow Fight, Water Relay, Throw the Hammer, Cracker Challenge, Pass the Noodle, Wellie Wanging, Tossing the Caber, Drink the Loch Dry and Haggis Hurling!

In 1997, The Beavers went to the Oxford Gang Show Sing-a-long Evening at the Town Hall, Tupen-Tar-Ruk Oxfordshire County Camp, made a giant Gulliver for their Carnival Float, went on parade and to the Eynsham Remembrance Service, visited the Cub Camp, had a Halloween night. They sent birthday cards to The Queen and were thrilled to receive a reply from her Lady-in-Waiting on Buckingham Palace headed paper saying "how touched Her Majesty was to learn of your loyal celebrations on her birthday, and to say that The Queen much appreciates your kindness in thinking of her at this time." Ross Gardener 'swam' up to cubs by walking under a bridge through a small stream and the District Commissioner invested Christopher Jorden. The Scrapbook also has pictures of their Leaders in their younger days showing 'Willow' as a Brownie Leader in 1981 (are you in the picture as a little girl?) and Beech in her Brownie uniform.

Here is a short video of the 1997 Eynsham Carnival showing the Queen and her attendants, the parade of decorated vehicles through the village to the playing field and the fun fair. BBC Radio Oxfords Jan Edwards was the official opener that year. Look out for the Beavers 'Lilliput' Float with Willow and Ash, and scout Suzanne Watson is a Carnival Queen Attendant.

In 1998, they dressed at builders on their Carnival float to promote the new headquarters building project, they had a wet family camp at Youlbury, went to Beaulieu and Cadbury World, paraded at the West Oxon St Georges Day Service, saw the Oxford Gang Show, visited a Sea Life Centre and the Beaver Fun Day in Oxford. They also went pond dipping, had a ruff games night and went to the Scouts and Guides Carol Service at St Leonards Church in Eynsham.

The Friends of Eynsham Scouts produced a Newsletter in October 1998 with news of a Multiple Choice Family Quiz Night, their 10th Anniversary meal, a Race Night and Group Activity Day. They aimed to raise money to support the group and help by offering the skills of their members. See slideshow for a full copy.

In 1999, the Beavers again celebrated success at Eynsham Carnival by winning 1st Prize in the children's category with a Formula 1 inspired float. They said good-bye to HMS Beaver as it was decommissioned, went to the Cub and Beavers 'Myths and Legends' Fun Day at Gilwell Park, and the Oxfordshire 'Viva La Beaver' weekend at Horley, went to Remembrance Day Parade and Service, The Carol Service in Eynsham, did a 'Get up and Get Out' Challenge, and drew some pictures of their leaders, priceless!

The cubs and FOES also entered carnival floats this year (see slideshow). Work started on replacing the Youth Club and British Legion Halls with the new Village Hall and thoughts turned to the future of the old Scout hut with much negotiation and discussions taking place.

Click picture for slideshowThe September 99 Friends of Eynsham Scout and Guide Groups Newsletter bought news of The Hobby Horse Race Night in the White Hart Garden raising 330 which went towards a Camping Fridge for storing medical supplies at camp which they used for the first time at their camp in Torquay. FOES entered the Adults float competition at the Carnival and won 1st prize with 'Carry on Scouting', launched a website and helped the group financially and with their members skill such as helping put up and take down the marquee, cooked at a Scouts BBQ and for the Beavers, organised Giant Football at the Beaver Camp in Horley and ran a Quiz Night to keep the parents entertained in the evening, and put up and took down tents at the Cubs County Camp in Ducklington (click the picture to see more in the slideshow and read more by clicking on the Newsletter).

This video below is of the 1999 St George's Day Parade through Witney for the West Oxfordshire Scouting District. The groups gathered in the Welch Way Car Park (before it was developed) and marched along the High Street, lead by a band, to the open space in front of St Mary's Church. The video shows the parade from opposite the Market Place, a bit of the service on the green, and then the march back, taken from outside what was Woolworths (now the 99p shop). As well as all sections of the Eynsham Scout Group, many other groups from around the district are shown, so have a good look and see if you can recognise anyone.
